SINAMICS braking resistor R=30 Ohm P_continuous=925 W P_max=18500W/12s/5% stand-alone insertion duration SINAMICS braking resistor, braking resistor for the SINAMICS G120 modular frequency converter and the compact SINAMICS G120C converter. The braking resistor dissipates the excess energy from the intermediate circuit. The braking resistors are designed for use with the Power Modules PM240-2 and PM240 (mounted next to the Power Modules) that have an integrated braking chopper and cannot return the generated energy to the grid. In generator operation, e.g. when braking rotating masses with high moments of inertia, a braking resistor must be used to dissipate the generated energy as heat.
