Up to 12 IO modules can be inserted in each station. The standardized structure of all modules significantly simplifies logistics and spare parts management. ET 200M can be used for both standard and safety-oriented applications. Up to 12 multi-channel input/output modules (e.g. 64 digital inputs) and function modules as well as communication processors of the S7-300 can be used as peripheral units (the interface to the process). The ET 200M also supports modules with extended user data, e.g. HART units with auxiliary HART variables. For simple wiring, in addition to the classic connection techniques, the ET 200M features the Fast Connect quick connection technique without the need for stripping the cable.
