Thanks to its small overall dimensions it is particularly suitable for installation in small distribution boxes at machine level. The modules can be plugged directly into an ET 200SP CPU or connected via PROFINET or PROFIBUS to a central controller. SIMATIC ET 200SP can be expanded with up to 64 I/O modules, which can be inserted in any combination. The system offers a very wide range of units. Many modules are also available with different performance levels, which greatly improves scalability regarding functionality and price. In addition to the modules with standard functionality (ST), modules with an extended set of functions and diagnostics (HF High Feature / HS High Speed) are also available. For price-sensitive applications, basic functionality (BA) modules are available. The advantage of the ET 200SP system is its ease of use, e.g. thanks to the free choice of connection technology to PROFINET via the BusAdapter, tool-free cabling with push-in technology, improved accessibility of the cabling with the new arrangement of the spring openers next to the respective cable openings and specific diagnostic functions of channel. The possibility of replacing modules and terminal boxes during operation, the so-called Hot Swapping, ensures the availability and productivity of the machine. The scalable and cost-optimised configuration of an ET 200SP station is ensured by the wide range of I/O modules. In addition to digital and analog input and output modules, fail-safe variants are also available for applications up to SIL 3 / PLe. This also applies to integrated motor starters, which are suitable for motors up to 5.5 kW. Energy meters for measuring and analyzing energy consumption, IO-Link master (V1.1.) as well as many other communication and technology modules enable the system to be adapted to every automation task.
